Aberdeen to London
The 57°10 student architecture society are proud to be exhibiting the work of Scott Sutherland School students in London. This gives our students an exciting opportunity to present the culmination of their 2-year Masters projects and a selection of Part 1 student work to a wider international audience, out with the context of Aberdeen in the city of London.
57°10 is the student run architectural society of Aberdeen run on a volunteer basis by master students Ross Cowie and Ross Robinson, the exhibition will be curated and run by 6 volunteer master students in their graduating year of studies.
The peripheral city of Aberdeen has given our students unique perspectives on the field of architecture. While many of our projects are based in Aberdeen, they are also questioning broader international issues, and we believe that it is the critical distance of our location that allows us to work in a different fashion to other schools of architecture. The perceived remoteness of Aberdeen has previously prevented us from exhibiting to a wider audience in the past, however, we are finding it too important an opportunity that we must take advantage of.
The pragmatic themes running through the school, root the production from the students with a sense of realism and understanding that is uncommon of many other schools of architecture. The freedom permitted in the two-year master’s projects allow our students to get an in-depth grasp of their individual briefs and truly understand and express the themes surrounding their work -something that we believe sets the school apart from other schools.
Any donation will work toward making this exhibition a reality. We are raising funds to help accommodate the volunteers during the exhibition as well as travel, venue and printing costs.
The 'Critically North' exhibition will be open between 14.30-17.30 weekdays and 10.00-17.00 weekends from Thursday 29th June until Thursday 6th July 2017 at Bespoke Careers, 58 St Johns Square, Clerkenwell, London EC1V 4JG. We hope to see you there
