Bristol Free School opened in 2011 in north west Bristol and in 2017 we reached full capacity (c. 960 students) across 7 year groups. We offer Computer Science in KS3 and as an option in KS4 and KS5.
We would like to purchase Pi Tops with Raspberry Pi's and accompanying accessories such as speakers, LEDs and other components.
Who is this for? This would be used primarily in Computer Science in lessons and co-curricular activities. We would also be able to run workshops for local primary schools. Equipment could also be booked out by other subjects.
Why do you want it?As our school has expanded to include sixth form and larger year groups in Y7 and Y8, we have increased our Computer Science provision and resources at curriculum level to ensure high quality teaching, learning and progress across the school. Unfortunately, funding does not allow for us to increase our purchasing of equipment to further engage and inspire young people including more girls to opt for Computer Science at KS4 or in our programming clubs. We would also like to run Coding Competitions within the school and for local primary schools in North West Bristol delivered by our KS4 and KS5 students.
