Project 20/30 is an initiative started by the club's President and Vice-President to get more funding for the club, aiming to raise £30,000 by the end of the year (ambitious we know!) as well as pushing the club to connect more with the wider community and and address topics we think are important. Regarding this, we are holding a mental health and wellbeing afternoon for any student to come and learn how to help those struggling with mental health, talks from sport professionals and improving everyones levels of fitness. These aims are to be continued as a club into the future with the money we raise supporting this as well as new equipment for the club.
Since being established in 2017, the club has grown enormously, from 9 members to almost 40! We offer training for complete beginners to experienced rowers, making us a hugely diverse club. We pride ourselves on inclusion and cater for any student who wants to join the club, which we are very proud of. We are extremely fortunate to have the support of Avon County Rowing Club, who let us use their facilities and boats to train, allowing us to get to where we are today!
As the current President and Vice-President, we want to leave the club in good stead for next year, allowing the club to progress to bigger and better things!
We hope you want to get involved and want to support our club that means a lot to us and has been a crucial part to our University experience!
Thank you!
Tabi Clarke (President) and Sam Wood (Vice-President)
Due to rowing being a notoriously expensive sport, and us wanting to make it as accessible as possible, we try and subsidise costs as much as we can, allowing people to experience the sport we love, which is great for full body fitness and socialising. Therefore we need to fundraise to help do this. As well as this we are looking to start build our own fleet, meaning we can get more crews out on the water. Some of the ways we are doing this is :
Some of the costs are laid out below:
These costs are some of the reasons why the sport becomes expensive and by helping to cover these we can enable more students to get involved.
