Brunel Is taking on The BRIT 2021 Challenge!

The BRIT 2021 Challenge is an inclusive feel-good fundraiser created by Phil Packer of The British Inspiration Trust to improve mental health and fitness, while raising vital funds to support young adult mental health.

Staff and students from Brunel are joining many other UK universities, colleges and student unions that are taking part both on campus or at home.

Join in!

"I urge all of our members to register teams to take part in the BRIT 2021 Challenge, support their students in taking on their 2021-mile challenge and help to raise vital funds for BRIT’s collaboration of mental health charities who support young adults in the UK.” - Professor Julia Buckingham CBE, President of Universities UK and Vice Chancellor of Brunel

Brunel was a proud participant in the Row Britannia 2020 challenge last year where we rowed and fundraised on campus for student mental health via Sport Relief. This year, the Brit 2021 Challenge is COVID safe and even more inclusive.

Join Brunel’s staff and student teams to cover the 2,021-mile distance by either hand-cycling, cycling, wheelchair pushing, swimming, walking, jogging, running or rowing between Tuesday 4 May and Thursday 1 July.

To add your miles to the challenge you just need to join the BRIT 2021 challenges in the Team Brunel app available in Top picks. There are challenges for different types of activity, so running, cycling, walking or wheelchair pushing etc, and for staff and students. And you can link your fitness tracker, Garmin, strava etc, so it records the miles for you.

To start using the app, just search for Team Brunel in your app store, download to your device and register using your email (it doesn’t have to be your Brunel one). Then select Go to Community and Brunel Challenges and select the appropriate challenge depending on what type of activity you’ll do and if you are staff or student. You will also be asked to connect to a fitness tracker such as Garmin or Strava if you use these, and the miles will be recorded against each challenge you join.

To inspire and encourage everyone who takes part in the BRIT Challenge, Olympians Shelayna Oskan-Clarke and Greg Cackett to cheer on the Brunel team as we raise funds and strive to 2021 miles!

"It would be fantastic if every UK university, college and students’ union embraces the BRIT 2021 Challenge, enters teams and unites to support mental health and fitness throughout the UK; this would undoubtedly ensure more students will take part; at home or on campus. I look forward to encouraging students and staff at Brunel University London to take on the BRIT 2021 Challenge and supporting them as they complete their 2,021 miles." - Shelayna Oskan-Clarke OLY, World Championship medallist and European & British Champion

All funds raised will be split evenly between the following charities:
