Our health workers across the country are facing the coronavirus pandemic without the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) they need to care for infected patients safely, and without risking becoming ill and spreading the infection themselves.
The number of cases are set to remain high for some time and we cannot stand by and watch.
Brunel University London have launched Brunel Cares to get PPE to those in need. We are now working quickly to source the much-needed equipment to distribute to hospitals, care homes, schools and local communities to ensure that key workers are supported and protected through this worrying time.
We urgently need your help. We have to raise £30,000 to fund Brunel Cares that will cover the following:
- FFP3 & Type 2 face masks
- Clear medical masks (to communicate with deaf patients or those hard of hearing)
- Waterproof aprons and gowns
- Materials for our volunteer sewers to make cotton masks for the vulnerable and elderly in the community
Speaking to doctors, nurses and care workers the need for protective equipment continues to be huge and there is a growing fear amongst health workers of a second spike of Covid cases as lockdown restrictions ease. We need your support so that we can move forward and help save lives.
UPDATE 30 June 2020 - The Brunel Cares team has been busily working on getting PPE to those that need it and wanted to share some highlights of the work that has been done so far:
All donations up to the first £5,000 will be generously matched £1 to £1 by the Rushworth Charitable Trust.
Volunteers – we already have over 50 volunteers signed up to help us, but we will need many more! If you know anyone who would like to volunteer to sew masks with Scrubs for Hillingdon, pick-up/drop-off materials or help coordinate the project then please sign up to be one of our Brunel Cares Volunteers.
Please help us help our front line health care workers by donating what you can to help in this effort and share with your networks to spread the word - every little bit helps!
