INTRODUCTION

The Global Zoroastrian Survey will, for the first time, aspire to question 100% of the Zoroastrian population.

It is imperative to initiate a global dialogue among Zoroastrians, especially among the younger generation, about the future of our community. The Global Zoroastrian Survey will question Zoroastrians worldwide to:

  • provide up-to-date, accurate, substantive and authoritative data,
  • inform, guide and balance our thinking, discussions and initiatives,
  • help us secure and shape the future of our community, its aspirations and identity.

MISSION

To document and engage the global Zoroastrian population by generating an all-encompassing database and drawing a comprehensive set of facts, insights and ideas to inform and inspire local, regional and national Zoroastrian communities to develop future projects that will secure, strengthen and further the wellbeing of the community and religion.

COST OF GLOBAL ZOROASTRIAN SURVEY

An initial estimated amount of $275,000 is expected to cover the cost for the Global Zoroastrian Survey. As of January 2020 Survey sponsors have provided seed capital close to 30% of this estimated project cost.

WHERE WILL THE SURVEY BE BASED?

The comprehensive and methodologically rigorous Survey will be based at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, an accredited public research university.

Dr Sarah Stewart, Shapoorji Pallonji Senior Lecturer in Zoroastrianism, and Co-Chair Shapoorji Pallonji Institute for Zoroastrian Studies (established in 2018) at SOAS, will lead the Survey and data analysis.
