SUPPORT ABERDEEN G&S SOCIETY’S HMS PINAFORE

About Our Production

Following our highly successful 40th anniversary production of Yeomen of the Guard, Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society is returning to the Arts Centre Theatre Aberdeen in February 2017 with one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular comic operas, HMS Pinafore. This amusing tale of love between social classes is being brought to life in an exciting new production directed by Wilma Gillanders MBE and promises to be a fantastic voyage for the entire family… About Our Society Our society was founded in 1976 as a student group at the University of Aberdeen ,and has recently set itself up as an independent performing arts group, operating from ACT Aberdeen. We have a reputation as one of the finest amateur operatic groups in the N-E of Scotland, and is unique in Aberdeen, as the only company currently performing full-scale Gilbert & Sullivan operettas on the local stage. This year we have a cast of 35 with an age range of 18 to 73, containing students of all higher educational establishments in Aberdeen as well as non-students and graduates. We perform our annual show every February on the stage of Aberdeen’s Art Centre Theatre, supported by a professional technical staff and full professional orchestra of 20 players or more.

Why Do We Need Your Help?

We are a non-profit amateur theatre organisation facing ever-rising staging costs. We are reliant on annual fundraising in order to raise a sufficient amount to put on our production. We need to pay for our venue hire, orchestra hire, scenery and other technical requirements like sound and lighting, and any funds raised via this site will help us reach our goal. We want to put on a fantastic show and continue to allow successive generations to experience Gilbert & Sullivan’s works and enrich the local arts scene in Aberdeen.

Good luck with the show. I produced the first H.M.S. P for the society in 1983 and it set me on course for many future productions.
