Hareclive EACT Academy is an exciting place to learn, full of brilliant children. We are located in an area of high deprivation - in the bottom 1% most deprived areas of the UK. Last year an arson attack destroyed three of our Early Years classrooms and all the equipment within them. The team have bounced back and our new building opened on 3rd January and looks fantastic!

We are slowly replenishing resources. However, one thing we are really lacking is IT equipment to help our children to learn online and also learn to be safe when using technology.

What do you want?

We want to buy 10 LeapFrog LeapPad3s.

Who is this for?

This is for our reception children to play academic games and learn how to use technology safely.

Why do you want it?

The leap pads will allow children to play academic games and apps. For example, 41 of our 47 children have speech and language needs and the phonics games where children recognise and learn the names of letters will help our children to learn to read.

We don't currently have any technology that our reception age children can access. The leap pads are designed for younger children are are easy for them to navigate and use.

Many of our children play on their parents' phones but don't have access to computers or any other technology. Teaching them to stay safe online using the SMART acronym (safe, meeting, acceptable, reliable, tell) is a core part of our curriculum and it would be wonderful if this could start from the first day they start school.
