Mankhu, Nepal
I am Dan, a second year Computer Science student at The University of Manchester. I've never done anything like this before but I've always been more interested in learning about other cultures and seeing the 'real' country - rather than having the tourist experience. I'm excited to have this opportunity and to be able to give something back to my hosts.
The project I am taking part in works to empower women that have been abused or cast away by providing them with a home, food and a plot of land to help them build a future for themselves and for their children.
It is organised by one of The University's 'trusted partners' - Kaya Responsible Travel - who provide access to a variety of volunteering and internship opportunities around the world. The Kaya partner in Nepal (The Mountain Fund) work tirelessly to help maximise the impact made by volunteers, providing orientation and organising transport.
As well as paying for my flights and accommodation, the money that you donate will help provide the villagers with land, crops and animals which enables them to create better, more self-sufficient lives for themselves.
The minimum amount will cover my flights and a portion of the project fee.
If I raise the full target amount you will have paid for the entire project and my flights.
Any extra funds will go towards my accommodation for my remaining time in Nepal and the rewards for donors.
I will be providing weekly updates via email to those who makes a donation and will also post, on my Facebook page, a summary of the project and the trip as a whole once I return home in August.

I've picked out some great rewards that you can earn, with something special for any amount you feel like giving!
