About Us

Cookham Dean is a single form entry for primary school children aged 4 - 11 years of age in a beautiful village just outside Maidenhead in Berkshire. At Cookham Dean we are very proud of our school, our pupils, our staff and all that we achieve here.  Staff, governors, parents and pupils work closely together to provide a stimulating and safe environment underpinned by our Christian values of friendship, community, peace, joy, endurance, forgiveness and trust. We work hard for children to develop their full potential; spiritually, morally, physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually.  The vision of our school is that 'all children flourish'.  This is at the heart of everything we do at Cookham Dean.

What do we want?

We are raising funds to buy iPads for our Key Stage 1 classes. Due to increased funding cuts, resources are already being stretched, so we have been looking at novel ways of funding those areas that need to be kept up to date.

Who is this for?

Year 1& 2 children

Why do we want it?

Our fabulous PTA have recently paid for a set of iPads for the school, these are used predominantly in Key stage 2, but we feel KS1 are missing out. Due to funding constraints we have been unable to purchase iPads for Key Stage 1 which has meant the children are unable to fully develop their skills to a level which ensures their confidence and competency.

A lot of our youngest pupils are digitally literate when they arrive at Cookham Dean School and are able to build on these skills whilst in EYFS. However, as they move into Key Stage 1, they struggle to show their skills because we don't have the type of technology they are used to. They sit with laptops and struggle with a mouse and keyboard which seem very alien to them. This struggle is necessary as laptops/desktops still have their place in the world of ICT. However, iPads in the classroom would really allow the children to show us what they can do: digital artwork, phonic games,  on-line learning in Maths, using apps to extend their learning.

This would give them a flying start in their journey to be fully 'Digitally Literate' and preparing for the world in which they live.

5 x Apple iPad 9.7-inch 2018 @ £238.90 = £1194.50

5 x Tech Air Rugged Anti-Shock Case for iPad (Black) @ £19.90 = £99.50

Total = £1570.56 (incl. VAT & delivery)

Stretch Target

If we raise more than our initial target, we would love to purchase 15 iPads (£267 each) and a TabCabby 15 port tablet trolley (£1,450)!
