Camden London
We're fundraising to go camping this summer. We meet weekly to support each other along the road of recovery from Substance and Alcohol use that has had a negative effect on our lives. An opportunity to get out the City will support our mental and physical health and give us some quality time together, in nature. Often we get lonely and isolated and many of us have experienced trauma. Before recovery the drugs or alcohol would block this out. Our recovery is about stepping out of our comfort zone, stopping social isolation and relapse and having new experiences. Most of us are fully abstinent now and there will be no alcohol or drugs allowed on the trip.
Camden Recovery Service sits under the umbrella of SHP (Single Homeless Project) and supports people in recovery from substance use and homelessness.
The Women's Group is a weekly get-together of women in recovery giving out mutual support and openly discussing personal issues related to health, mental well-being, relationships, life goals and addiction.
Everyone has a different story, but one thing's sure becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs wasn't part of the plan. Many women dealing with addiction have experienced trauma at some stage in their lives. This impacts on mental health, confidence and self-esteem, physical health and relationships. Sometimes using drugs and alcohol to self medicate and block out emotional pain becomes a habit. New experiences and opportunities that are different and create new memories can give inspiration and hope for a new way of being.
If we hit our minimum target of £700 that will cover
If we make more it would be amazing to have:
If we had extra funds it would be used for:
We would give regular updates whilst campaigning at least twice a week.
