At Excelsior we encourage students to "Think differently" to achieve their dreams and ambitions, think beyond the realm of where they currently find themselves and step outside the box. Teachers at our academy therefore need to think outside the box in how they teach.
Excelsior Academy sits with the inner West of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our post code finds us in the top 5% of the UK most deprived areas, with an often high mobility rate means we have quite a transient student population with a wide spread of emotional, mental and welfare needs.
With over 72% of our pupils receiving pupil premium and 48% BME, language and engagement is often a hurdle we face. Lego and Sphero are "language free" they have no language barriers, every child identify with them, therefore they can engage in learning with them.
We hope to use the funds to purchase the following items:

We hope these products will reach out to over 258 of our students. The aim is to raise attainment and interest of our students in STEM subjects and break down language barriers amongst our students, we hope that teaching them through play and interactive learning can assist us in achieving this target.
Therefore we need as much support as possible for you to share our project to help us achieve our fundraising target, through social media or word of mouth we'd love it if you could help support us in making a HUGE difference to our students.
Select this reward if you just want to donate to the project without receiving a reward.
