St Andrews
St Andrews Africa Summit (SAASUM) was set up by students in 2015 to promote wide-ranging discussion and debate about Africa, Africans and African affairs. Our main objective is to provide a platform that stimulates dialogue about African issues by bringing together professionals, academics and students.
Our small committee collaborates with professors and students to develop awareness of global issues at a local level and to introduce the community of St Andrews to the trends shaping the affairs of this multifaceted continent.
To date, SAASUM has organised four successful events. We have been honoured to welcome speakers such as Mamphela Ramphele (politician and anti-apartheid activist), Sir Mark Moody-Stuart (former Chair of Shell) and Afua Osei (Co-founder of She Leads Africa).
SAASUM aims – through its annual summit – to offer students the ability to learn from and have discussions with people who are leaders and catalysts for change in Africa’s future.
For SAASUM’s fifth anniversary, we are focusing on the themes of leadership, development and entrepreneurship within the context of Africa’s diaspora and its cultural and economic output over time.
SAASUM endeavours to achieve a social mission - our annual summit offers students the ability to learn from and even have discussions with some of the greatest leaders and catalysts in Africa's future!
The minimum target will cover the costs of speakers
