On Saturday the 27th April, Langwith college will be holding a sponsored Sun Run. Hundreds of our students will be dressing in their craziest yellow attire and running 5km across campus in order aid to raise money for the Langwith Student Development awards.
We are looking for your help to sponsor those students who are taking part in the run! But if you’re feeling up for it we'd love you to #GetInvolved and run yourself, and share on social media!
The project is being led by the Langwith Students Association (formerly known as the Junior Common Room Committee) and our student-led alumni committee LAR-E.
The Langwith student development awards exist as part of the college’s goal to support student development. The award consists of a grant which support students to attend conferences, undertake internships or anything else that they feel will benefit them academically or personally. Currently, the grants are awarded to applicants who make it through an interview with the college team, and range up to £150 per application.
Previously, the award has helped students undertake placements, internships, teaching and volunteering opportunities abroad and working in local charities.
The main aim of the award is to be able to help all students in expanding their employability no matter what obstacles may be in their way. At present, we have been able to give an average of two awards per year and, these have been used by students to undertake exciting and new challenges which add a different dynamic to employability, as well as help them personally to grow and develop themselves.
Our aim is to be able to make 10 awards of £300! Applications for the Langwith development awards are currently open, and the college team will be holding interviews during the Summer Term. All successful applicants return to the college the following year in an evening to promote the scheme and share what they did with the awards. Once applicants have been awarded, we will share what they intend to do with the award and why they have won them, so you can see how your donations have helped Langwith students!
