About TIna

I am a 28 year old mezzo-soprano determined to make a successful career in opera performance. Having obtained a 1st class bachelor's degree I have been offered a place on the two year MA Advanced Opera Performance course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, commencing in September 2018. The college has an excellent reputation and places on the course are hard to obtain. The total cost of the course for one year is £14,993 plus the additional costs of rent and living whilst on the course. With the help of a Master’s Loan, support from Funtington Music Group, the Mario Lanza Educational Foundation, savings and a plan to work on the side, I have managed to put together a large proportion of the money I need for the first year; however, ideally I should raise another £5000 in order to be able to successfully complete my first year.

My Background

I started my musical journey in Latvia playing the violin at Jazeps Medins Music School and studying singing at Riga Dome Choir School. In 2011 I started my studies at Chichester University and graduated with a 1st class BA(Hons) in Music with Musical theatre in 2014. During my time in Chichester I was given opportunities to sing Pamina in The Magic Flute, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Police Sergeant in The Pirates of Penzance and Casilda in The Gondoliers as well as perform in many concerts.

After leaving Chichester I studied for a PGCE at Sussex University, and now live in Buxted where I teach singing and piano, as well as conduct the Uckfield Singers choir. I have performed professionally in several concerts, sang Tisbe in La Cenerentola, a Witch in Macbeth at AIMS International Summer School and my latest opera engagement was this February in Crete with Minotaur Opera led by Michalis Angelakis where I sang Conversa and Seconda Cercatrice in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. I also recently recorded the soundtrack for Rick Stein’s new BBC cookery programme airing in 2019. I am currently studying with mezzo-soprano Anne Mason and I also regularly attend masterclasses including Morley College classes, AIMS, Vox Integra, Benslow, Jackdaws and others.

However, to improve further I feel that a conservatoire environment would be the best place to support and develop me as a singer and to help me enter the world of professional opera singing. Unfortunately I am not able to do this without financial assistance. If there was any chance you might be able to donate towards my cause, I would be very, very appreciative. Please have a look at the available rewards!
