On the 4th March, the University of Nottingham's Shooting Club are hosting an inter-university clay pigeon shooting competition at Orston Shooting Ground, for which the proceeds will be going to the Prince's Countryside Fund; a charity which supports the development and sustainability of families and communities in rural areas. We are donating money from each entrant as well as holding a raffle of prizes donated by businesses including The Field Magazine, Charnwood Brewery and Jack Pyke for which all the money raised will be donated to the charity.
We are holding this crowdfunder to allow everyone, not just those involved in shooting, to donate to this worthy charity, especially those living in rural areas who know the help the Prince's Countryside Fund brings.
We are the University of Nottingham's Shooting club. We have been a society at the University for many years, however, this is our first year as a University of Nottingham Sport, thanks to the hard work of our committee and members. We coach beginners into the sport of clay pigeon shooting as well as helping experienced shots to improve their abilities. Alongside this, our competitive members are coached by Orston Shooting Ground thanks to Dan Martin, Emily Richards and Steve Walton. We partake in competitions across the country with other universities as well as BUCS (British University and Colleges Sport) and try to give all people, new and experienced a chance to experience clay pigeon shooting.
Many universities run their own shooting competitions and this year is the first time Nottingham University Shooting Club has hosted one. We have more than 100 shots attending from several Universities and hope this will make a substantial amount for our charity donation however we feel in making this crowdfunder we can raise even more to help this excellent charity.
