Marine Academy Primary is unique; it is the first ‘Marine’ Primary School and the first free school in the South West to be graded as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted (June 2015).
We offer a broad, exciting curriculum, which enables each individual pupil to become an effective learner who can go on to realise his or her ambitions.
The marine curriculum has been developed for pupils to follow with their specific learning needs in mind.
The demands of the 21st Century mean that our pupils will need to be alert to new technologies and the possibilities that they will create and be able to swiftly adapt to change.
We aim to ensure pupils are independently minded and confident citizens of the future.
The marine curriculum aims to ensure pupils achieve high academic outcomes, excellent literacy and outstanding communication skills, a love for knowing how to learn and an eagerness to find out more.
What we would like
Our aim is to purchase 30 Virtual Reality Headsets and iPod Touches to accompany them. This will allow for our learners to be able to see things that they could only have dreamed of before and take them to places in the world that without this, they would only be able to imagine. The Virtual Reality Headsets will provide an additional element of experiential learning for all of our children, in addition to the free trips that we provide for our learners every half term.
Who it is for
The Virtual Reality Headsets will be used by all children from Pre-School to Year 6. Having a full class set will allow all learners within the lesson to be fully immersed in the learning and experience.
Why we would like it
It will allow them to more clearly see and interact with the subject in a totally new way. It will raise their aspirations and expand their knowledge of the world. It will also provide children with an amazing concept of what life was like in the past but also what life is like outside of Plymouth. The children will experience places they have never been, which will inspire them to travel and see new places as they get older.
The children will be able to visualize learning in many subjects across the curriculum through the use of Virtual Reality.
