What is the beast of the east?
The Beast of the East is the largest collegiate rugby tournament on the east coast, attracting the best teams in the region, from Maine to Washington D.C. WNE Rugby has built a tradition of traveling to Portsmouth, RI to compete in this mighty tournament that spans an entire weekend of competition. We need your help to fund transportation, lodging, and food for the team!
our story
Founded in 2009, Golden Bear Rugby began with a group of motivated students who had to travel off campus just to practice and compete. Over the years, the team has been afforded more and more opportunities; first, through the help of Student Activities, and recently by joining the Athletics Department.
Where will the money go?
The trip to Beast of the East is an expensive one.
Even with the help of this campaign, it is anticipated that each team member who wants to go will have to contribute $50 or more of their own money in order to participate. This campaign is intended to reduce the financial burden that team members face in order to compete in this amazing tournament.
This campaign will focus on funding:
- Registration for the team
- Transportation to Portsmouth, RI and to and from hotel
- Hotel and food costs for the team
