Thank you to everyone who has donated to my crowdfunder so far!

Just to make the funding side more transparent, all money will go towards equipment hire, location, wages, expenses, catering, props, costume, etc.

When I created my budget for this, it came to £11000.

Budget was broken down in this way:

Camera equipment: £1600.

Lighting equipment: £1200.

Crew: £180 a night (living wage)

Cast: £180 (equity rate + night rate)

Director/DoP/Camera: Between £300-£500 depending on role.

Location: £500.

Post-Production editing/colour grading: £1300.

Post-Production sound editing: £500.

Music Composition: £2000.

Plus various extra costs.

Every single penny helps towards really hard work from people who are experienced in their craft, and from pre-production to finalising the film, the process will take over 9 months.

It's astonishing how much it costs to make a short film, and even more astonishing that this costing is the lowest costing that I could do, with many working well under their day rate to try to create something beautiful for Mental Health Awareness.

Thank you again, and for taking the time to read it, and I would love for you to keep sharing and tagging people and I'd love any kind of donation to help us make this film.

Get to know Katy Jane, our Eleanor!

As an actress often cast for my quirky and comedic style, I am delighted to be cast in this more dramatic role. I am so excited to be working on this project that covers issues I care deeply about, that of mental health and the conversations we have about it. Many people reach the end of themselves, like Eleanor in this film, and have no one to turn to or simply don’t know how to start a conversation. This short celebrates the power literature can hold in some of your darkest moments and brings real hope to her story. A hope we all need and deserve, even if we don’t yet know it.

Meet Director Gabrielle Finnegan:

Gabrielle is an actor/writer/director with a passion for telling stories for and about women. Part of the reason she was drawn to working on Alive was the concept of creating an F-Rated short. Gabrielle has previously directed for music videos and shorts, as well as directing for theatre. Her most recent directing credits include: A Girl's Guide to the Entertainment Industry (sketch-show, short, 2018), An Answer (music video for Yellow Belly and David Vazquez, 2018), Orphan by Russell Eccleston (theatre, 2018), Coming Home (music video for Yellow Belly and David Vazquez, 2017). Gabrielle was drawn to working on Alive because she wants to create more awareness about mental heath issues, and how to combat them, believing Vicky's beautiful script is a great way of encouraging those suffering to see the light in the world, through literature and the arts.

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all of the support I have received so far. With only 20 days to go I would love to ramp up more support to make this film the best it possibly can be.

Finding light in the darkest of moments is one of the key points from Alive, and sometimes this light comes in the form of literature, and that literature can unknowingly save your life.

I have included a sneak peek at the script to give you an idea of how visual the film will be, how important music will be in telling the story, and how the conversation is created.

I hope you enjoy, and continue to share, let's make this happen together!
