My Mission

I have the amazing opportunity and privilege of taking a year off from studying and going out to the island of Palau. Palau is part of the Micronesia region in the western Pacific Ocean. I will be serving in an elementary school where I will be teaching elementary physical education.

Each year Southern Adventist University sends out more than 60 full-time student missionaries. I have agreed to raise $2,600 for Southern's Student Missions program. The funds raised will collectively help cover our airfare, visas, insurance training, and care packages. I am excited to serve as a student missionary! Will you help me reach my goal? Whatever you are able to give is greatly appreciate by the 2018-19 student missionaries, the people we will serve, and also myself.

Who am I

I am freshman, nursing major at Southern Adventist University. Ohio is home for me but this past year I have learned that home is not so much a place but the people that you surround yourself with. I have developed life-long relationships that I know will be there for me when I need them. I love being active and sports are a big part of my life. I enjoy being around kids. Working as a summer camp counselor has helped me know how to deal with children, which will help in becoming an elementary teacher this year.

My story

I always saw myself being a Student Missionary. My plan was to go after my second year of college. But when I met with my advisor and was told that it was best to go after my freshman year  because of my major, I decided that I would not go at all. That next week it was Student Missions Emphasis Week and I felt God calling me to go. But even then, I still decided that I did not want to go out and serve because it did not work with MY plan. I had friends that were saying,  "I’ll pray for you," and "This would be such a great experience." But I would always respond by saying, "No, do not pray for me, I’m not going anywhere I’m staying right here at Southern." I soon learned that God had other plans for me and the MY plan was not what was going to happen. That whole week I felt restless and had an internal conflict. I felt like I was fighting with God and it wasn’t until the Student Missions Vespers that the calling could no longer be ignored and really felt God calling me. That next week I found myself in the Student Missions office starting my application and I thank God for not giving up on me.
