Baltimore
We're a group of 12 UMBC students raising funds to support a week of policy discussions, volunteering, and cultural exploration in Baltimore. Through this experience we hope to gain perspective on the 'inequality economy' and its role in the daily lives of Baltimoreans.
Community Partners (Ongoing)We need funding for transportation, food, and housing for the week; $100 per volunteer provides a week of all three.
Great question! Here's what a couple of volunteers have to say about that...
alexis stone - global studies"As a Global Studies major, I am excited to examine how local and domestic economic policies affect income and wealth disparity in Baltimore (and nationally), as well as how that prepares the stage for worldwide stratification of wealth and prosperity."
Amirah abukhdair - Chemical engineering"I'm joining the trip because it is taking a step in addressing shortcomings in the current economic system. When more people are aware of why, in a great country like the U.S, there are many struggling to get by and many others with nothing, more movements to aid and improve the system start appearing."
All funds raised are administered by the UMBC Foundation for the benefit of UMBC.
