We are raising funds to buy iPads for our Reception classes. Due to increased funding cuts we can barely afford to maintain the ICT we have so new ICT equipment has to be funded in novel ways such as this. If we wait for better financial times, our current Reception pupils could be in Year 6 or have left the school. They need modern equipment and they need it now!
The 45 pupils in our Reception classes are 5 years old, yet they have some amazing computer skills that they struggle to show us on our desktop computers.
A lot of our youngest pupils are digitally literate when they arrive in school, however they
struggle to show us their skills
because we don't have the type of technology they are used to. They sit in our ICT suite and struggle with a mouse and keyboard that seem very alien to them. This struggle is necessary as desktop computers still have their place in the world of ICT. However, iPads in the classroom would really allow the children to show us what they can already do.
Digital artwork, phonic games, programming robots, digital music composition, basic research and much much more.
This would give them flying start in their journey to be fully 'Digitally Literate' and would allow us to challenge them more easily.
The donations will buy iPads. We already have these in school and they work well on our system.
If we raise the minimum amount we will be able to buy one iPad, which means that both Oak and Maple class will at least have one each. If we get the full amount we will be able to buy 4 iPads (5 iPads if we raise £1,550!). 5 iPads would mean that both classes would have 3 iPads. Which means that during the daily rotation of activities, children would have access to activities using modern tablet computers.
5x iPad 32 GB Wifi @ £304.20 each: http://www.jigsaw24.com/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=MP2F2ED
Credit card fees (2%): £30 (to cover the fees charged by the payment provider)
Total = £1,550
We lose out in the new government funding settlement. We get less money and therefore we can provide less for our pupils out of the school budget.
You don't need to give money to help us succeed!
