After successfully raising funds to purchase two new, much needed boats for the Boat Club, we are looking to purchase two new sets of blades. CCBC has grown even larger in recent years and has achieved some impressive results including sending crews to Henley Royal Regatta and achieving the best results Collingwood has seen at HoRR. To allow our success to continue we need suitable equipments to allow all crews to train and succeed. Please help us build a more competitive club for years to come.
We are Collingwood College Boat Club. Entirely student-run, we compete at the highest level for colleges in Durham. We take on 50 novices each year who are taught by student volunteers. Around half of the club, including those competing in our top crews, have never rowed before coming to Durham.
After a very successful fundraiser in 2018, not only did we expand the CCBC fleet, but we also helped to build our alumni network. CCBC was established in 1981 and as a relatively young club we are constantly trying to grow our alumni and support network.
We currently use old defected blades which undergo constant repair. To remain competitive we are reaching out to anyone and everyone who has been involved with our great club and help us make the necessary purchase of 8 blades. The new blades will enable us to fly the CCBC flag higher than before and continue to connect with our alumni members.
Since blades are set to different lengths for men and women, we are looking to raise enough to provide both the men's and women's squad with 4 new concept 2 sweep blades each. With an ever growing club, we are aiming to set the club up for years to come with good quality equipment allowing us to stay competitive.
With £2200 we can purchase a complete second-hand set of blades for each squad. At £3500 we can get our hands on 8 brand new sweep blades accompanying our men's and women's top IVs. The blades will be used exclusively with our new Stamplfi 4+'s which hosts the best male and female rowers from their respective squads enabling more efficient training without resolving equipment issues before sessions.
