Who are We?

Our Mission:

The Center for Social Justice works toward advancing social justice through research, advocacy, education, and public engagement.

Our Vision:

The Center aims to enrich the rigorous education and practical training the School of Law currently provides, promote collaboration among interested groups toward legislative engagement, facilitate critical discourse in academic and community circles about social and economic justice, and advance social justice through scholarship and advocacy. The Center’s four prongs will be research, advocacy, education, and public engagement.

how will funds be used?

We envision a Center that expands our academic offerings, engages students more robustly, supports our faculty’s cutting-edge work, and works with community organizations and partners to identify and begin to address unmet needs that cut across law and other fields.

Funding will allow us to advance our goals, such as:

  • Providing academic year and summer research and advocacy fellowships to support students and faculty engaging in social justice work
  • Organizing and hosting conferences and speaker series addressing current social justice topics, open to the community
  • Expanding doctrinal courses that explore social justice issues including how poor and marginalized communities interact with the law, and experiential courses that address unmet legal needs
  • Growing our engagement with pipeline programs aimed at young people traditionally underrepresented in the legal field

Help us succeed!

Every gift is greatly appreciated and will be used to advance the Center’s mission.
