Im aiming to raise £500 to enable me to gain valuable practical excavation experience and also pre/post excavation experience. In order to do these types of digs you have to pay for a place on the project, travel, food and accommodation.
I'm Sammie. I'm in my first year of university, studying archaeology and heritage studies. I am very keen to get as far as I can in archaeology and have only just hit the tip of the iceberg!
I'm a mature student living alone, which proves to be extremely challenging financially but I'm getting through it just about. I dream to be working within the archaeology sector full time one day! :)
Got a question....ask away :)
I'm raising these funds to help me gain the necessary knowledge and more to be able to really delve into a practical career in archaeology and need help to get there! Practical excavations at different sites around the country and indeed the world gives you an invaluable experience to add to your cv.
These funds will be allowing me to go to Marden Henge, excavating a neolithic monument, gaining experience of archaeological digging in July 2016. This is an exciting opportunity to find out more about another monument similar to Avebury and Stonehenge, finding out the importance of these impressive stone structures.
By donating, you will be opening the door to an experience I could not get otherwise. Allowing me to build on skills and be able to discover OUR past! Your donation will help me build on my confidence and will help me add to my archaeological skills passport (this records the skills I learn and develop through my education and on into my career later on, acting as a record of the excavations I will have been a part of as well as my cv).
Going on an excavation such as this as a mature student is more often than not, a dream and a dream alone, but with your help you can make my wish come true! To help my passion for OUR past blossom, to one day be able to teach these amazing techniques to our children and their children.
Select this reward if you just want to donate to the project without receiving a reward.
