My Project

Hi, everyone! I have decided to serve for a semester in South America where I will be teaching English. I would love to become a student missionary and share Christ's love with others but I need your help to do it.

All Southern Adventist University student missionaries are expected to help raise funds to support the Student Missions program. I need your support to help me and other student missionaries serve around the world. Would you please consider supporting the Student Mission program at Southern and helping me reach my goal of $3,500?

A little bit about me

My name is Hannah Jobe. I am from North Carolina and just finished my junior year as an English major at Southern. I love reading, writing, exercising, and cooking, along with several other hobbies, and I enjoy participating in church through singing with our praise team whenever I get the opportunity.

How I got here (my story):

During high school, I went on several short-term mission trips and really enjoyed them. Once I got to Southern I thought about doing a longer trip after my freshman year, but didn't feel like it was the right time to go. During my sophomore year, my life became more settled and I decided I was perfectly fine spending all my time at Southern, but God clearly had other plans.

After a missions vespers, I kept feeling a pull to spend some time doing missions. I was happy where I was and tried to tell myself that I had a lot to do here. But throughout my contemplation, I could never think of a serious and legitimate reason not to go. In fact I found many benefits of going:

  • I would be serving God by helping people in a direct and visible way
  • I would grow as a person by gaining a more long-term intercultural experience
  • I would have the opportunity to learn Spanish

I knew God was telling me to go and serve. After considering the options, I decided to go for the fall 2017 semester. Since I made that decision, I have seen God working in my life. I found out a close friend of mine had also decided to go as a student missionary and now we will be able to serve together. I was able to get a passport appointment the same day I called to book it instead of waiting several more weeks for slots to open up. This and more has shown me God's leading and I want to be able to follow His plan for my life.

Help me reach my goal

Even if you can't give right now, I'd like to ask you to please share my project with anyone you think may be able to support this project, whether that be on social media or in person. I can't do this on my own and any kind of support will be tremendously appreciated. Thank you so much for your support!
