A short documentary in which a deaf actor talks to us about his experiences, deaf culture and the messages that hearing people need to listen to.
We’re making this film to raise deaf awareness within the hearing community in regards to how deaf people are treated, whether it’s within their own family, social situations, or work. We hope it will create a further understanding of the ways in which the hearing community can do small things that would be extremely helpful to some deaf people, such as improving communication and accessibility.
This film is very important to me. As a deaf director who has gone through the struggles that our subject has, it’s a topic that is very close to my heart, and by doing this film it will spread awareness to those who watch it.
I hope this could be a start in not only raising awareness, but by donating, it could lead to a bigger project that involves more deaf people and help to raise the statistics of deaf people in media. The lack of representation they currently have is leading to lack of knowledge and understanding of the deaf community.
