I am a computing teacher and IT manager for Hollymount School in Wimbledon. We are a two form entry school with a diverse intake. We give the children opportunities to reflect, and develop knowledge about themselves and their skills and abilities, through participation with others. To get a flavour of our happy school go to !

Although we teach Computing well in this school, to inject excitement and joy into the Computing curriculum, I would love to continue our journey in coding using LEGO Mindstorms. As I teach Computing across the year groups, I can develop a scheme of work for all year groups so that they whole of KS1 and 2 can benefit.

LEGO bricks are ideal teaching resources to help our pupils gain a firm grip on concepts that are new to them and difficult to understand. For EAL and SEN children having something tangible and familiar will allow them better access to this part of the curriculum. These resources let you turn abstract ideas into tangible objects that can be seen, touched, described – and played with. This encourages  pupils to overcome challenges and learn together. Abstract ideas are brought to life and Pupils work together to solve problems. Lego We Do 2 gives pupils tools that can actually be seen and touched and motivates them to learn.

HELP us reach our target!

If a genie appeared out of a lamp and asked me for one School wish for my department, I'd want to be able to have a whole class set of Lego We Do 2.

This has been a resource I have longed to introduce to the children after attending a workshop and saw for myself the wonderful possibilities this product has for engaging all children, regardless of their ability, in coding and robotics and firing their imagination. There is no possibility of being able to afford any of this in this year's or even next year's budget as our budget has been cut down to nearly impossible levels and our fantastic PTA are concentrating on refurbishing our playground and other large projects. Have a look at our video to see who your donation will help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
