The Honors College is thrilled to announce the reintroduction of our signature study abroad programs beginning in July 2019. These faculty-led programs will offer Honors College students an immersive educational experience, the opportunity to earn UMBC credit, and some of most fulfilling memories of their undergraduate careers. International education is a natural fit with the Honors College's commitment to a well-rounded education and our mission to make our motto, Learning for Living, a reality.
This summer, we're kicking things off with a special program in a special place. . .
July marks the return of Honors College Faculty-led Programs (FLP) with HONR 300: American Literary Perspective in Paris, a seminar surveying the influence of the City of Light on American writers from Gertrude Stein to Ta-Nehisi Coates. Departure to Charles de Gaulle Airport is July 8 and we return July 29. (That's right: we'll be there for Bastille Day!)
Led by Michael Stone, Instructor in the Honors College, HONR 300 is a 3-credit course that includes in-class and on-the-street instruction, plus an array of cultural activities and plenty of time for independent exploration and learning.
Benefits of HONR 300 include:

Our close collaboration with UMBC's International Education Services (IES) means that the cost of this program to our students has been made as low as possible without compromising the quality of the experience. But study abroad is expensive, no matter where the destination, and costs remain prohibitive to many Honors College students. The Honors College is committed to making Paris, and all of our future destinations, as accessible to as many of our students as possible. We believe that education abroad should be an option for every student, regardless of .
Your gift will allow the Honors College to make study abroad affordable for all our students in the form of direct scholarships. The money doesn't go to Honors College staff or faculty, nor does any of it go toward programs and activities on campus.
One hundred percent of your gift goes toward making these international programs a possibility for our students.
Help us succeed! You can help us succeed by giving to the program and by sharing this project with anyone you think would support us – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence or on your blog.
