About us

We are a small, rural school in Darley Dale, just outside Matlock in Derbyshire.  Despite being small, we have big dreams for our school and are passionate about creating 21st Century learners who are ready to meet the challenges of growing up in a global society.

What do we want?

We want 15 iPads!

Who is this for?

This project will benefit all our pupils and our wider local community, as we aim to use the iPads to run an intergenerational project, bringing young and old together.

Why do we want it?

Following the success of our recent intergenerational project with elderly folk at Meadow View Care Centre, we want our pupils to become the teachers and teach their grandparents how to use iPads to enhance their digital and online experience.  We would like to host a weekly session bringing grandparents into the school for a club with refreshments available and lots of opportunities for young and old to talk together.  We would like child and grandparent to create a living scrapbook using digital media called "I remember when...".  We feel that this project would benefit everyone involved in so many ways, but especially by giving our pupils a platform to demonstrate their value as coaches and mentors for computer literacy, and by providing opportunities for older folk to share their life experiences, memories and wisdom.
