I am raising $3,600 to be able to serve as a high school teacher on the island of Palau. I will be teaching 9th and 10th grade Bible and I want to be able to help the community and serve the teenagers of church.

Who are you?

I graduated from Southern this past May with a Bachelors degree in Religious education and with ESL certification. I am a California native and enjoyed my four years in Tennessee. Being recently graduated, I was ready to join the workforce. However, during my time at Southern I was able to serve on a short-term mission and fell in love with mission work. Needing to graduate was a priority for me, given that God had already taken me down an unconventional path. After that first mission trip, I was definitely wanting to go out and serve again but I was wanting to leave the timing up to God. Unexpectedly, beginning me last year at Southern, God called me to be a missionary again, even at an unconventional time. Now, recently graduated, I am preparing myself to serve as a high school Bible teacher at Palau Mission Academy.

Where will the money go?

The money fundraised will not only help me with my living expenses for the year but it will also help the student missions program at Southern. Each year Southern Adventist University sends out more than 60 full-time student missionaries. I have agreed to raise $3,600 for Southern's Student Missions program. The funds raised will collectively help cover our airfare, visas, insurance training, and care packages. I am excited to serve as a student missionary! Will you help me reach my goal? What you are able to give is greatly appreciated by the 2018-19 student missionaries, the people we will serve, and also myself. I believe this is a great experience for everyone but especially during college years. Because of my “unconventional” path, I am able to say that with experience and certainty.
