I have decided to take a year off from my studies to be a student missionary for the 2017-2018 school year. I have been given the opportunity to go to Kuda Vana Children's Home in Zimbabwe, Africa. I am extremely excited to go and work with the children in the orphanage. I will be taking care of them while helping them with English and teaching them about Jesus.

All Southern Adventist University student missionaries are expected to help raise funds to support the Student Missions program. I need your help to send me and other student missionaries so we can serve around the world. Would you please consider supporting the Student Mission program at Southern and helping me reach my goal of $4,800?

Who is Kaylan Hartman?

I am a sophomore at Southern Adventist University and an elementary education major in hopes of teaching third grade some day. I love children and sharing the pure happiness that they have. My favorite things are my cats, my friends, and my family. I am a huge outdoors person whether it be wake boarding on the lake, camping in the woods, or traveling half-way around the world. Finally, God has blessed me abundantly and now I want to give back to Him by devoting my life in service for Him.

My story

I started off my year at college not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I kept praying that God would show me a career that would make me happy. I got the opportunity to work in a third grade class at the elementary school on campus and I fell in love with the children. Shortly after starting my job, I went to a Student Missions vespers and knew immediately that this is what God wanted me to do. From then on, I prayed for God to find me a place to go. A life-long friend told me that she had thought of going as a student missionary also and we both had thought about Africa. After deciding on Kuda Vana Children's Home, God made things fall into place. I am so excited to be able to work with children, along side one of my best friends. I know God has made this opportunity for me because He knows its right for me. I pray that I can successfully share His story and love around to everyone I encounter.

Look me up on Facebook, Kaylan Hartman, to see updates of how my trip is going! I may also be starting a Youtube account to post some videos of my time in Zimbabwe if I have the opportunity. I will post the Youtube link on my Facebook page I am able to post the videos.

Help us succeed!

  • Of course donations are needed and greatly appreciated but you don't have to give money to help us succeed. Your prayers will go farther than money ever could, so I ask to remember me and all the other student missionaries that are going out.
  • I want to thank you and ask you to please share this with others around you so that they may be able to help me and others serve around the world!
