As the event is non-profit, money raised will:
- Allow students and the general public to attend without a charge
- Reimburse the travel expenses of speakers who are voluntarily speaking at the event
- Buy refreshments for the workshop
If we reach our stretch goal of £360, this will enable us to provide a further 2 workshops!
I am Genevieve Elliott, a current Second Year Student at the University of Nottingham and President of Medsin Nottingham. Medsin Nottingham is a Students' Union society which focuses on raising awareness on national and international health matters, by hosting workshops. The project will be pioneered by the committee members of Medsin Nottingham.
The Tropical Medicine Talk is an opportunity to engage students with tropical illnesses such as HIV. It will be the first workshop that Medsin Nottingham has hosted this year. Other medical volunteering Societies at the University of Nottingham are affiliated with the talk, such as 'Friends of MSF', as well as UCL HIV Education. Hence, the talk enables societies to network and work together to raise awareness for tropical health. By donating to the project, Medsin Nottingham, will be able to secure experts to speak at the talk, for instance Professor Alan Fenwick OBE. Moreover, the donations will contribute to publicise the event, so that more students at the University of Nottingham can attend this workshop, as well as future ones.
The Project funding will be spent on travel reimbursement, food for the events and printing to publicise the events:
Travel reimbursement = £80
Food for the event = £24
Small gifts to thank speakers = £12
Printing = £4
Additional funds will be needed for future workshops as we host at least 3 workshops a year
We will endeavour to publicise any sponsors that grant us money in preparation and during the project event.

If the project is unsuccessful in receiving funding, we will also be writing to ask for support from Nottingham Alumni, in order to make the event a success. We want to publicise the event to as many people as possible by asking you to please promote the event via your social networks! In addition, the first £50 donated will be matched by the University's Cascade funds. Many thanks for considering our project!
Select this reward if you just want to donate to the project without receiving a reward.
