Hey friends and family! I'm raising $5,024 dollars to serve in a medical clinic in Zambia, Africa! By doing so, we can help those in need for medical treatment in the surrounding area that do not have quick access for healthcare and further show the love of God!

I have the opportunity and privilege to take a year off from studying, exams, and deadlines to serve Riverside Farms Institute in Turnpike Zambia, Africa where they focus on education, farming, and health to the citizens of Zambia. For more information about the institute, visit

Each year Southern Adventist University, the school which I attend, sends out more than 60 full-time student missionaries (SM) all around the world and this year I chose to answer the call and be part of this amazing group. I have agreed to raise $5,204 for Southern's Student Missions program. As a group, the funds we raise will collectively help cover our airfare, visas, insurance training, living expenses and care packages. Will you help me reach my goal? Whatever you are able to give is greatly appreciate by the 2018 -19 student missionaries, and the people we will serve!

My story

My name is Melanie Ramirez and I am a Biology Pre-Med major at Southern Adventist University. I hope to one day to become a physician and serve where there is the most need. I am from all over the place, meaning I was born in California, grew up in Michigan, Texas, and currently living in Arizona. I enjoy the outdoors, meeting new people and adventures in general. In the past few years, I have fallen in love with service and have grown deeper in love with Christ. Serving in the community, summer camp, Campus Ministries, school mentoring and missions has truly changed my life forever. Missions has become a great factor in this by seeing first hand how we can help others, expecting nothing in return. I have been able to use my God-given talents in serving in Egypt, Palau, and in Brazil in short-term missions (Pictures below) but now I have decided to fully commit and dedicate a year in service in Zambia. I look forward to continuing my theme of service in Zambia next year with YOUR help.

Let's spread the word!

Even if you aren't able to help out financially, your prayers are still greatly appreciated! Sharing this with your friends and family would help out a lot as well. The more people that know about this, the more likely we are to successfully reach our goal. You don't need to give money to help us succeed! Please share this project with anyone you think would support – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence, or on your blog.
