Newstead Wood is a very successful girls secondary school in Orpington. Our students are highly motivated and love learning. Unfortunately we are facing a time of acute financial pressure so need your help to develop our resources for teaching and learning!
We want to buy seven classroom visualisers for our seven English classrooms. All students at Newstead Wood study English up to age 16 and a substantial number continue to study the subject at A Level. Every week our talented and hardworking team teach for 120 hours in our English classrooms, working with almost 900 young people.
Why would visualisers make a difference in the classroom?
A visualiser is essentially a camera which hooks up to the classroom PC and projector and can stream anything to the big screen.
We love our screens in English and use presentation software all the time, but we also love books and writing on paper. Books are very much a one-to-one medium... but using a visualiser allows them to be shared to a big screen easily, giving a whole class the opportunity to share in the learning.
A visualiser in the classroom would allow teachers to:
How will this benefit students?
Thank you for your extraordinary generosity! We are amazed and touched by your support. Your pledges will help make so much difference to our students' learning.
We are setting an ambitious new funding target of £4727.
This will allow us to purchase seven new Fujitsu Esprimo Q556/2 Mini PCs for our English classrooms to run our visualisers on. These will replace the existing classroom PCs which are showing their age.
The PCs are available here: https://www.shop.bt.com/products/fujitsu-esprimo-q556-2-mini-pc-intel-core-i5-7400t-8gb-128gb-ssd-windows-10-professional-64-bit-vfy-q5562p152ogb-CZ85.html#
Our network team will then redeploy our current machines elsewhere in the school where they are most needed, ensuring that there are no gaps in provision in our classrooms, library and IT suites.
Wow! We are once again so impressed with everyone's generosity. We have smashed through our stretch goals on Day 2 of the campaign! I've now updated our target to £6364 - this will allow us to buy:
* one more classroom visualiser for our sixth form English classroom.
* wireless Kensington remote 'clickers' so that our English teachers can present without having to hover around the mouse.
* two new projectors to replace ageing equipment and ensure that our students' work can be projected clearly and brightly.
Thank you once again for your terrific support of our campaign. We are going for a final push as we head into the last week!
