The Connect2Effect UN Global Hackathon competition has officially ended! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our US$ 1,500 minimum crowdfunding target in the final hours today. We would like to send our heartfelt thank you to ALL of our supporters for being part of our journey and spreading the #NiskalaWay message!

Solution Update #1:
With the support of our partners at Mankind Jakarta, NISKALA has taken the elements of the Balinese life philosophy, the Tri Hita Karana and translated it to become a technology solution in the form of a web platform. The first element, harmony with God , is represented by the NISKALA post-ceremony waste pickup service.
How it works: A ceremony holder schedules a pickup via our website and provides all details about the event --> a waste administrator supports the separation of inorganic and organic waste during the ceremony --> the waste will be delivered to our partners at ecoBali and Bali Compost Crafters so that it is properly disposed of and does not end up in the landfill!
Solution Update #2:
The second element of the Tri Hita Karana is harmony with people. The NISKALA platform connects users, members, our partners, educators and the media and creates a community for all of these stakeholders to support each other in practicing zero waste ceremonies.
Solution Update #3:
The third and final element of the Tri Hita Karana is harmony with nature. The NISKALA platform showcases data at the aggregated level to show total number of ceremonies that use NISKALA's services, the reduced waste, and the resulting environmental impact from our service. The platform also gives each user the data after his or her ceremony to show how much waste was produced and sorted properly after the ceremony. We hope that members will share their data using their Facebook and other media outlets in order to encourage friends and family to utilize our service. Lastly, the platform will house a robust educational component so that wedding planners, event organizers, group and individuals can perform a zero waste ceremony, the #NiskalaWay .
