Hi, I'm raising money for my final project in my 3rd year of filmmaking at UWE. I have an extremely talented crew working together on this film and all we need now is a little funding to make it possible.
'Para' is a short film inspired by the true story of a young drug dealer who experiences both real and hallucinatory encounters with police while trying to raise money to support the younger brother he cares for.
This project is being brought to life by a crew of filmmaking students from UWE, including:
Tom Fawcus - Writer/Director
Mo Hamid - Producer
Liam Grant - Camera Assistant
Kahlen Chan - Sound
Robin Edgington - Post-Production Editing
Johnny Yates - Colourist
George Gunn - Lighting
We are also very lucky to have Bram van Dijk flying over specially from the Netherlands to be our Director of Photography.
We have also confirmed our composer, Ashley Holbrook.
Para is the story of a kind young man, who had a troubled upbringing, but has an endless amount gripping stories to tell. Para follows one particularly extraordinary chapter of this young man's life, two years after he dropped out of university to raise his younger brother. He experiences a hallucinatory encounter with the police while in possession of an incriminating amount of drugs and cash, and in his attempts to evade these imaginary police, he actually draws attention from the real police in the most bizarre way imaginable.
Essentially, the film touches on the troubling truth that bad things happen to good people, but we hope this dark comedy goes to show that when you look back at your mistakes you just have to laugh.
As UWE filmmaking students, our crew has access to a wealth of industry standard equipment and professional advice, so some of the most expensive costs are already covered. However, with other costs inevitable, the project still requires a small budget. We
We are hoping to raise a minimum of £830 in order to support this project. However, this figure doesn't cover all the costs of the project, so we truly appreciate every single pound or penny you pledge.
With the £830, we are looking to cover the costs of; costume, travel for crew and cast, lunch for the cast, props, and our professional composer. Although, there are many costs to consider beyond those covered by the £830.
We have rewards available for your pledges. And we realy do appreciate every penny you pledge, no donation is too small! Just imagine if everyone who visited this page donated £5, we would smash our targets! Anything you can afford will be wholeheartedly appreciated!
