The Mind Your Mood Santa Run is a well established event on the Ulster University calendar. Each year students and staff turn out on each campus and don their Santa Hats to run for Mind Your Mood. Even though we can't do this together on campus this year, we are encouraging you to walk, jog or run with your family for this great cause.
Simply put on something (anything) festive, go outside and walk, jog or run for as little or long as you like. Bring family along too for fun and take a photo. You can send your photo to insight@ulster.ac.uk and of course share on your own social media tagging #wegotthis #mindyourmood
We are encouraging people to make a voluntary donation of £5 on this page with all proceeds directed to Mind Your Mood.
Mind Your Mood is the award-nominated and increasingly vital student-led mental health campaign, managed by the Student Wellbeing team at Ulster University. Recent studies state that stress is the top mental health issue facing students (81%), with 26% of young people in the UK experiencing suicidal thoughts.
At Ulster University, we recognise the pressures faced by students in higher education and aim to help students to better manage their mental wellbeing. In addition, we know that this year and the challenges it has brought are only exacerbating this issue for many of our students and so this support will be needed more than ever.
It is important that we look after our mental health and wellbeing, but also understand that sometimes we may struggle and that is ok too. We want to help our students build the resilience they need to achieve their academic ambitions. Mind Your Mood does this by raising awareness amongst our students through our Mind Your Mood student ambassadors, delivery of training workshops and other fun events to encourage our students to build connections with each other. We deliver
As an example of the impact of our fundraising, the funds raised during 2019/20 have supported the purchase of a new online 24/7 mental health and wellbeing platform to complement the support provided by the Student Wellbeing team as a we continue to respond to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This is an innovative and responsive approach by our colleagues in Student Wellbeing to support our students in the current environment.
