Livingstone
The first programme of its kind in Livingstone, based in the Southern Province. Saints Sport, in support of Sport in Action (SIA) are committing a team of student volunteers from the University of St Andrews to a six-week programme of sport and education within three schools selected by SIA.
Four key sports have been identified as areas in which sustainable growth and development are required in order to support the transition from school to club sport: netball, football, volleyball and handball as well as developing drama as a tool to support learning and communication skills.
I am a second-year student on track to get a dual degree in Management and Sustainable Development. Sport has been a huge part of my life since a very young age. Through coaching, refereeing and being a Camp Counselor I have developed a passion for working with children, especially in a sports context. I am so excited for this new challenge and learning opportunity!
Within our group, we will work together to help transform the lives of children, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds, using sport and recreational activity (such as drama and music) to engage and educate. I hope to enhance young people’s knowledge in topical areas of health and life skills, with a view to developing motivation, self-development and self-reliance through social, cultural and economic empowerment.
I will be planning various events, individually and with other student volunteers.
No donation is too small, all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
