We are Uglybird Dance, five students from Falmouth University who formed a company to create an exciting, fresh, energetic dance piece. The piece will be part of a programme of work we present for the final project of our final year of training, and we intend to end with a bang!
We will be the first year of Dance Performance students to graduate from Falmouth University, as our course has only just started. We want to show the world what Falmouth dancers can do. By creating a fantastic final piece we will be making a name for ourselves and the course, and building a foundation of strong, exciting performance coming out of the University which following years can build on. We will perform our piece at the Lived Art 2013 summer festival at Falmouth University, showcasing our skills and passion to our peers and the public. We also hope to perform the work at other events in the South West, becoming part of the Cornish dance scene.
We are all experienced performers, working in a range of styles of dance, in different locations, with different people, and together.

So why do we need funding for this project?
We have the performance skills, we have the rehearsal space, we have the ideas, we even have some lovely friends who we've convinced to lend us their photography and design skills for free....but we need a few more things to make this venture a success:
We need help towards the cost of costumes to create a professional, contemporary image as a company.
We need help towards the cost of creating and printing posters and programmes to entice lots of people to our shows and make this all worthwhile.
But, most importantly, we need help to pay our fantastic choreographer. We want to work with a professional dancer who will push us to our limits and help us create something ground-breaking. This is the reason we're asking for help with this project: the investment will allow us to make a dance piece which is truly innovative, full of passion, excitement and fun, which we can share with the University and further afield. We want to graduate with a great piece which we are proud of and is truly ours, and which will leave our audiences excited and enthused - all through the power of dance! Please help us achieve this goal!
We're a brand new company with lots of passion, energy and ideas; we need your help to convert these into dynamic performance which we can share! Any help, however big or small, is very much appreciated.
