WHO ARE WE?
Vets in the Community is a project set up to provide free veterinary care to pets belonging to homeless and vulnerable housed people in Nottingham.
We provide health checks, vaccinations, micro-chipping and treatment for fleas, worms and minor ailments. We can also provide advice on pet health care, for example nutrition and neutering. The clinic is led by students at the Vet School, under supervision from experienced, qualified members of staff.
The student team also fundraise and volunteer locally to raise awareness of the clinic. To date we have ran over 700 consultations for dogs, cats and rabbits, and even a ferret. Our clinic is becoming more and more popular with each month and our clientele is fast expanding.
OUR STORY
Vets in the Community was launched as a pilot project in 2012, with initial funding from Dogs Trust and the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary medicine and donations from alumni and friends through the Cascade Grants Programme.
