Ysgol Glan Aber is a small community focused school in Boot End of Bagillt in Flintshire. We have 148 on roll and are currently living in the dark ages in terms of technology. We have capable, well trained, enthusiastic staff who are ready and willing to make a push into the new Digital Curriculum. However we have laptops that are aged, unreliable and riddled with problems. We have iPads but they're limited to a few a class and as a result our ICT and coding capabilities are limited.
What do you want?
We want to get a selection of the latest coding equipment to start an after school coding club as well as use them within our ICT sessions. We would get equipment and resources that benefit the whole school, from nursery to year 6. This would include the Code-a-pillar for younger coders, spheros and lego robotics for KS2 as well as bee-bots for the whole school.
Who is this for?
Our equipment would benefit the whole school with every age and year group benefiting by being able to access the latest technologies. It would be used in the after school or lunch time coding club as well as during ICT sessions.
Why do you want it?
We currently don't have the equipment to really immerse and inspire children into computer sciences and coding. In this modern age and the speed of which technology moves soon digital technology will be as important as Maths and English. We therefore need to give our children the opportunity to learn, enjoy and embrace technology and it's capabilities.
